BY-LAWS BLUE KNIGHTS LAW ENFORCEMENT MOTORCYCLE CLUB CHAPTER FL 1
ARTICLE # 1 Section 1. The name of this Chapter shall be BLUE KNIGHTS, FLORIDA CHAPTER ONE, INCORPORATED, with its principle location in the Gainesville area of Alachua County, Florida. Section 2. The purposes of the BLUE KNIGHTS, FLORIDA CHAPTER ONE, INC. are to provide for mutual assistance, enjoyment, entertainment and improvement of it’s members both socially and physically by sponsoring recreation activities and programs for members; to stimulate and advance the general welfare and safety of motorcycling; to serve the interest of motorcycle owners; to stimulate and advance the general welfare and safety of such owners against discriminatory legislation, registration regulations and burdensome taxation; to develop a fraternal spirit with the members of this chapter; to provide a medium of exchange of motorcycle information; to own or lease property for chapter use and to perform all desirable functions for successful and safe operations of the chapter in general public interest
ARTICLE # 2 Section 1. Membership in this chapter shall consist of four (4) classes. A. Regular B. Associate C. Honorary D. Special Honorary All applicants for membership in any class will meet the criteria set forth by the BLUE KNIGHTS INTERNATIONAL, BANGOR, MAINE. These rules and regulations will be strictly adhered to and no deviation whatsoever will be allowed. Section 3. Applicants for membership in Florida One must be approved by the BOARD OF DIRECTORS (BOD) and voted on by the membership present at a regular meeting. Section 4. All members, regardless of classification shall be entitled to one vote. No Proxy votes allowed. Section 5. A member may resign from the chapter at any time upon notification, written or verbal, to the Board of Directors. If notice made verbally, two Board members will verify. Section 6. Membership in the Chapter may be terminated by action of the BOD for nonpayment of dues or any reason whatever deemed prejudicial to the best interest of the Chapter. The notice of termination shall be in writing and sent by registered letter. A member terminated under this Section will have recourse to an appeal. The appeal must be in the form of a letter and it must be in the hands of the BOD within sixty (60) days of the date of termination. Section 7. Any member resigning or terminated by the Chapter must return all BLUE KNIGHTS property, including all property marked with the registered trade mark of the BLUE KNIGHTS. Section 8. Each member of FLORIDA CHAPTER ONE shall carry sufficient liability insurance on his/her motorcycle in order to exempt other members from any liability whatsoever.
ARTICLE # 3 Section 1. The officers of this Chapter shall be the President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Immediate Past President and three (3) Directors, who have been elected by a majority of the Chapter members at the regular meeting. These Officers shall constitute the BOARD OF DIRECTORS (BOD). Section 2. All Officers shall be elected every two (2) years to coincide with the International elections. Vacancies occurring between elections may be filled for the un-expired term by vote of the majority of the BOD. Section 3. The BOD shall conduct all business of the club considered to be routine in nature and perform all other duties involving policy when voted upon by a quorum of the membership. Five (5) members of the BOD shall constitute a quorum. The BOD is authorized to conduct all business as provided. Section 4. The President shall preside at all meetings of the Chapter and BOD; shall appoint such committees as authorized by the BOD and shall carry on such other responsibilities assigned to him/her by the By- Laws and the BOD. Section 5. The Vice-President shall, in the absence of the President perform all the duties of the President. Section 6. The Secretary shall keep a record of all meetings; shall keep an up-todate membership list and shall be responsible for all other clerical functions which are required for the operation of the Chapter. Section 7. The Treasurer shall keep a full and accurate account of receipts and disbursements of the chapter funds; shall have the authority to endorse, on behalf of the chapter all checks, drafts, warrants and deposits. The books and accounts in the custody of the Treasurer shall be available at any reasonable time for inspection by the BOD.
ARTICLE # 4 Section 1. The amount of dues to the INTERNATIONAL , as well as their time of payment, shall be set by INTERNATIONAL. The Chapter dues as well as payment time will be set by the BOD. Section 2. The BOD shall set the time and place for Chapter meetings. The BOD shall have the authority to call special or emergency meetings at a time and place of their choosing Section 3. A quorum at a regular meeting shall consist of a minimum of three (3) members of the BOD and 25% of the members.
ARTICLE # 5 Section 1. The by-laws of this Chapter may be amended upon written proposal, sponsored by three (3) Active Members and by majority vote of the BOD and the members attending the regular monthly meeting, or as provided by law.
ARTICLE # 6 Section 1. Nothing herein is intended to supersede any article of the Blue Knights International By-Laws. Should there be a conflict in articles, or a specific issue is not address in the Chapter By-Laws the articles of the Blue Knights International By-Laws shall apply.
